What a Week [46]: I ESCAPED!

Welcome to my weekly recap where I share what happened last week

in my Reading Bookshelf, Writing Desk and Blogging Corner.

I ESCAPED!

While my daughter was at her ballet class, I escaped from my prison, ran to my favorite café [which doesn’t have internet connection DARN IT!!!] to write this post and tell you how much I missed you all and how much I missed blogging!!!

OMG the last two weeks have been SCARY!!!!

Real Life captured me and imprisoned me behind the veil in the Real World 🙁

I had a HUGE project due last week and on top of that I took YET ANOTHER job [that’s makes one full-time job and two part-time jobs!] and my kids had trainings, practices, games, tournaments, rehearsals… so there I was…

Trapped! Behind the Veil!

And all I could do was watch my kid blogger friends have fun at the kid blogger playground and sigh!

I was there, in Real Life, running [literally speeding and getting speed tickets!] like a headless chicken from one place to another. In between practices, and games, and work meetings, I would check my iPhone and read your awesome comments and posts wishing I had one minute to comment. Is ONE MINUTE too much to ask???? But as soon as I clicked in “reply” or “comment” I was already late for another “event” 🙁

There were two reviews on the blog these last two weeks JUST because I had scheduled them the first week of May as part of my blog ahead challenge (in which I miserably failed of course!). 🙁

But, though I have NO updates whatsoever, today I wanted to…

  1. Thank you all my wonderful kid blogger friends for visiting my blog even though I was MIA. You guys are fantastic!!! I’ll make sure to visit you and totally “spam” your blogs [as my dear friend Annika would say 🙂 ] as is proper! 🙂
  2. Tell you about all my good intentions for the next weeks! Because if there is something Daniela always has is PLENTY of good intentions. That’s how I never say no to anything and get completely overbooked 🙂  So here they are…

My kid writers friends… his Friday Jun 3rd don’t miss my interview with Thomas E. Sniegoski  awesome best seller author  of one of my favorite books EVER, The Fallen and The Demonists and other great urban fantasies

This week I’m also hoping to catch up with A Book Genesis. I’ll be redesigning the feature so it is more flexible and writers can choose whatever topic they want to post about.

What about you my writers friends? What did you write last week?

Of course I also fell behind with my favorite feature which is my Blogger Interviews! 🙁

But Lola’s interview WILL BE formatted and scheduled! AS GOD IS MY WITNESS!!! So, don’t miss the interview with our dear Lola, Friday June 10th.

Since now I get home around 9 pm and crash exhausted shortly after making dinner, doing laundry and checking homework, etc. I haven’t read one single page or written a single review! My GR “Currently Reading” report is exactly the same as it was two weeks ago 🙁

   readingprogress

I still have pretty much the same ARCs to read I had two weeks ago, but at least I didn’t have the time or energy to request more ARCs 😉

arcstoreadmay28

I’m hoping to get some reading done today and tomorrow (which is a holiday here in the US) and maybe a little during the week but, unfortunately, my reading bookshelf will continue to be  neglected for a few days because after all tournaments and recitals are over, then come my kids’ competitive tryouts and I have another big project due mid June! 🙁

So right after I finish that project I hope to get through as many as those pending ARCs as possible because…

IT’S COMING… I CAN FEEL IT…

Chilly, dreadful, seeping into my bones… another reading slump!!! Everything is a DNF now! My Goodreads “Abandoned ARCs” shelf is almost as big as the pending ARCs 🙁

BUT I HAVE A PLAN PEOPLE! I DO!

I have no idea if it’s going to work but… Remember is all about the good intentions! 🙂

First I created a “Want to Finish” Goodreads shelf  because I KNOW there are good books that I haven’t finished just because I haven’t been “in the mood”, like these…

wanttofinish

And second…I’m playing the helpless female card!  Yes. I, the ultimate feminist… I’m declaring myself a damsel in distress!

I’M CALLING ALL THE HEROES!

You know.. the brave, the proud, the strong… The infamous SHIRTLESS guys!

The Alpha Males!

ALL OF THEM! The SEALs, The Shifters, The Vampires [the ones that don’t sparkle of course!]

Because when I’m done with my big project at work and summer starts…

I’M READING ROMANCE!

Yes I’m yelling! No more whispering! Screw the dark edgy reader reputation! 🙂

I AM looking forward to lazy summer days at the beach, reading tons of shameful, sinful books with “shirtless” guys on the covers!  😉

I CANNOT WAIT FOR SUMMER!!

What about you? How was your week? What are you reading now?
What ARCs do you have pending? What are you reviewing next?
Leave a comment! I would love to hear from you!

  1. Hey nice to see you back! 🙂 You sound super busy- glad you escape RL for a while. The books on your want to read shelf all look good- maybe that will kill the slump. It just takes one good one… 🙂

I’ve been meaning to post something in your new GR group but just haven’t had time.

  2. YOU’RE NEVER ALLOWED TO LEAVE US AGAIN!!!

Jk I will still be your loyal follower even if you take some breaks 😛 And WOW, you really do sound like you were ridiculously busy! I mean, you know a bookworm is busy when they don’t even read a single page in two weeks! But at least you managed to not add to your ARC pile. That’s something lol.

And wooooo! You’re finally admitting to your love of romance! Embrace who you are! 😉

  3. Sounds like you had a crazy busy week! I’m glad you got a chance to escape for a moment. I really hope things slow down for you soon and you have more time to relax!

Your ARC list is AMAZING, but I can definitely understand why it’d feel intimidating. I really want to read The Creswell Plot. How are you find Labyrinth Lost? That’s another one I’m really interested in!

  4. The Real World is such an overrated place! I’m glad you were able to break through the veil and come visit with us, and I hope you’ll be able to find a permanent rift where you can drift back and forth as much as possible 😉
I can’t imagine having one full time job, plus two part-time jobs, AND have kids who need taking care of as well, Daniela. You’re a superhero!
I hope you’ll be less busy in the coming weeks, because I’ve missed you lots 🙂

  6. Girl I can give you all the romance recs you could ever want!!!! Its the only thing I read!
I created a shelf on goodreads called “maybe later” for those books that didn’t work for me but might when I’m not in a slump.
Hope things slow down a little and you are able to get some time to read!

  8. Wow, you’ve been busy! Glad to have you back. Seems like you and I have been in the same boat on the reading front. Three weeks later, and I’m still not even halfway through Jane Eyre 🙁 I’ve been so tired, I keep falling asleep early. I actually fell asleep one night at 7:30 PM. What am I, 80?!? Hopefully, you’ll get a chance to read some this week, despite your continually busy schedule.

  10. Glad to see you back -I’ve missed you. Real life just gets in the way sometime.

  11. Lovely to see you again! Of course I don’t have the excuses and commitments you do – I’ve just been unwell and blah…. You’ve been really busy from the sounds of it. (Mind you, you will need the extra jobs to pay your speeding fines!)

I hope things ease up for you soon and you get to hang around for a little while. xxx

  13. I am glad to see you’re blogging again! Yay! Wow one full time job and tow part time jobs, how do you even manage that? How do you even have time to do all those three jobs. I am sorry to hear real life kept your prisoner. Your last two weeks sounds like they were hectic. I hope thing quiet down for you soon!

I am looking forward to see the interview with me live. I’ll have to remind myself to stop by on June 10 to check it out and reply to comments.

That’s so sad you didn’t got any reading done. I always feel off when I can’t make time to read in a day. I hope next week you can fit in some reading time!

  16. I can relate to being imprisoned by ‘real life’, Daniela. It seems my whole May was that way – with the exception of going to Chicago for BEA, which didn’t help me stay caught up in the blogging world. 😉 Hopefully things are under control now although I don’t know how in the world you’re working so many jobs and doing all you do for your kids. Are you Wonder Woman?? 🙂 Anyway, I wanted to drop by and touch base and apologize for having been away for so long. And hopefully I’ll have a bit more time now that school is out. We’ll see. We have vacations and getting my oldest (and ME!) prepared to leave for college. Eep! Good luck with all your endeavors, my friend.
